**Calibration with standard materials - such as polyamide monofilament (PA) - according to the SCHMIDT factory procedure has been proved to provide the best results for 95 % of all industrial applications.
Tex-System
Tex-system is a weight numbering system (tex = weight in gram per 1000 m running length, that means 1 tex = 1 g/1000 m). It is used to describe the fineness of textile fibres, yarns, twines, etc. Even higher the tex-number, the stronger is the yarn. The tex-symbol is set behind the particular number, e. g. 120 tex.
120 tex x 2 means: There are twisted 2 yarns with 120 tex.
Fine yarns are declared with the description decitex (abbreviation = dtex). Therefor the weight adverts on continuus yarn in gram per 10000 m running length, theat means 1 dtex = 1 g/10000 m. Even higher the dtex-number, even stronger is the filament. In practice the specifications of chemical fibers occur mostly in dtex.

Please contact us for assistance to determine the right tension range and model. For this purpose a material sample of 5 m should be supplied.
3. Select the guide rollers
according to the following criteria:
- Roller shape V-grooved or with asymmetrical groove...
- Roller shape U-grooved with radius or cylindrical...
- Roller material (hardcoated aluminium, plastic, steel, etc.)...
- Max. line speed of the measured material...
4. Required accessories
- Adjustable damping
- Special lever
- Memory pointer
5. Special custom-made designs
We provide customer-supplied designs on request:
- Special tension ranges
- Customized measuring head widths for applications
- Customized distance between the two outer rollers to minimize material deflection
- Calibration for material path other than vertical
- Calibration to different units, such as g or kg

6. Calibration using customer-supplied material
This is recommended when the material to be measured differs significantly from the SCHMIDT calibration material in diameter, rigidity of shape etc. For this purpose a material sample of about 5 m should be supplied.
7. Inspection Certificate 3.1
according EN 10204 with calibration report optional
These Quality Certificates are optionally available and are recommended especially for
ISO 9000 certified companies.

- Description of application and machinery
- Description of the material to be measured (Ø, type, characteristics, etc..)
- Line speed of the material
- Recommended or estimated tension
- Maximum measuring head width or available access space
- If necessary, submit a material sample of about 5 m
